On Wednesday, team’s coach Mike Zimmer announced the team has signed the former Denver Broncos running back Ronnie Hillman, at the same time left tackle Matt Kalil was placed on the injury reserve.
Hillman, the third-round pick of 2012, spent his last season with the Denver Broncos but was released before this season. He ran 863 yards during his ten starting games last season. The current Vikings starting running back will still be Jerrick McKinnon.
“Obviously, it’s hard to replace a running back like Adrian Peterson. He’s the best running back in the NFL,” quarterback Sam Bradford said Wednesday. “But it’s kind of just the next man up … I think we’ve got a great group of running backs. I think the guys behind him are eager for the opportunity.”
